So I was blog hopping and found some new actions. That are free and really nice .I just took a bunch of bird shots and have been playing around with all my new actions and wow they are so different from ones I already have. You can find them HERE and HERE. Maybe some of you have heard of these and I have too but I guess I missed some along the way and amd tickled I found them again.

Oh I am also playing around with learning how to make my own story boards.

Winter

Around here winter is trying to show it`s face. This weekend and next week will be filled with snow and cold. Can`t really complain though, for we have had a non snowy and mild winter so far. Just the way I like it.

But can not wait for spring and warm weather and sunshine and color to be around me.

I found some pretty fonts and wanted to share this one... it is called Before The Rain. So pretty.

Tutorial Tuesday

This was a fun one and one I will do again.

I used two lenses, I first tried my 50mm 1.4 with my macro filters. It worked but I wanted to see with my 18-55mm how that would do. Also with my macro filters. I was kind of in a rush so I want to try this again when I have more time. My settings were ISO 400 F5.6 2/50 or so, And use my portable flash.

This next one is of my favorites.

I will have to look for more colors in fabric pieces.

I like this one I think the best, just for it`s crispness. and detail.

I was shopping at my local grocery story and fancied on a small Grape Hyacinth for five bucks. These are by far my favorite flowers of all time.

I will try to force the bulbs for this spring when the flowers are spent.

Another Florida shot, this was the moon right outside the patio window above the Atlantic ocean. I added the star texture to it using Jill Wellington of This is Life...Through My Lens' method. I had not know you could just place the texture over instead of my usual way of pasting and copying. This way is much faster with the same results.

I am home safe. Wow what a great experience I had in Florida. I am so thankful.

Now I have like a months worth of editing to do or so it seems. But now since I know what clean editings I need to do and the fun ones I want to do it should go by fast. So many pictures came out great with really no editing to be done except sharpening and fixing my noise problem that I have had for some reason. I am so excited. The owners as I have mentioned want me to have some made to canvas.

Noise Reduction

So I had just taken some more last minute wave shots and noticed that they are very noisy... my ISO is only at 200 and yes it is a cloudy day.. and kind of windy/ rainy. I have all my noise reductions off on my camera, and I even went to change those setting without a difference, putting them to high or what have you..

so my last post those shots are noise city.. here they are again with noise reduction... a questionnn does changing my setting of my shutter button to AF/AF LOCK, NO AE LOCK from the default to what I usually had it set at which was..0 AF/AE LOCK. That should not make a difference?!

anyway I am bumbed I took all these shots and now when I edit I have to filter out all the noise... I even sencor cleaned my camera.

So I have no idea what is wrong but hopefully it is just the conditions.. it is very salty here that maybe a factor.

Last Day In Florida

So I found this blog with this tutorial.

Use back button focusing.

I have never tried this before, this I did with these shots, I am really wanting my shots to be crisp and in focus. So I do not have to do much editing and so I can just fun edit with actions.

These girls were having so much fun.

The skies were not a clear blue the whole time I was here, but I am kinda of glad for some shade protection.

A Couple More Days In Florida

My time here is coming to an end. I have had so much fun. A great experience for sure.

I can`t wait to edit all my shots. Some I want to keep SOOC. But I have been putting some actions to these and they have a different feel. Also I have been playing with the equalize ajustment setting and like the results it give. This last shot had that applied.

The Begining Of Floridas Adventures

I am here, in Florida.

The weather has not been the best, but at leaste it is not cold or snowing.

I am right on the Atlantic ocean that goes for forever it seems.

The plane ride was safe and fine. I was scared the whole way but I did it. Praise God.

I was too sared to really get my camera out, but once we were close to Florida I did and got a couple cloud shots. Here is one for now

I was a little sleep deprived because the night before my plane ride I was a reck and then the first night here I could not settle down. But last night my second night I did get a good nights sleep.

It has been very windy and cloudy with threatening rain but does not.The windows get alot of salt on them so not a clear view most times but this shot I took from outside.

Many huge ships pass by. Here is one of them. It was very windy so the shot may not be the best in focus.

And last for today is some waves...

These are all SOOC except for a clean edit.

Well many more captures to come. There are so many different birds and sea shells and plants to capture in the days ahead.

Now I am off to Target to get a couple things and to just know I get drive there and not get lost.

Some of you may have read in a previous post that I am going to take a trip to florida in a week, for a week.

I am scared but excited too. I have not flown in about 20 years and I am going alone. But not really because God will be with me.

I am excited to be able to capture new and intresting things. Like the ocean, beach, different plants, flowers, birds, different animals, lizzards.. which I think are cute, sea shells and so much more. I will also be doing videos as well. Can`t wait.

Again if I could ask for prayer for safe travels and that I would have peace and not be so scared.

Guess where I am going??? I am going to Florida. For a Week. I am excited and scared all at the same time.

I have not been out of MN for like 20 years. Let alone on a plane in like 10 years.

The people I housesit for brought their dogs to their condo and will be away from it for a week.

If I could ask for prayer for safe, fun travels I would really love that.

( and any tips for plane traveling would be nice as well.)

I am fearful of so many things, too many to say on here, but I am going to just bite the bullet as they say and do it. God is with me and will be with me every step of the way.

In The Eye Of The Beholder

I was going to my favorite blogs today. And this one caught my attention. Words right out of my mouth.

Just yesterday I was feeling this same way. Everything around me is not looking to pretty right now. Even though temps are above normal.

Here are some shots I took.

This guy stole the show. Only after I was discourage and about to leave, the garden dead at that.

I went thru my shots and at first thought only boring dead plants. but...

This bench looked so lonely with no one sitting on it.

And this plant looked like it wanted some love.

But Mr. Crow got the last word.

Spoons Part Two

I had to much fun with these spoons. I love when I find the right thing to capture. And they turn out. On most of these I used my 18-55mm. with flash bouncing off the ceiling. I had fun editing these. My first set HERE came out well, but had a bluish tone that is nice but wanted to see if I could do something differently.
I just had these spoons on a black piano.( Great open space).

This shot I added an old paper texture. This one I like the best.

This next one I changed the tones and added a black and white action.

These last one added actions with vintage feel.

I am learning that even though my goal is always SOOC as my finished result. Editing can bring a different feel and look that is new and fresh. ( I think also I am finding my editing style for my final result. wanting them to be able to be pleasing to the eye in print form.)

Another edit as of the one above, but again giving it a different feel.

And from a previous post, I think I nailed down resolution/ pixel dilema I was having. I went to Target and had a couple shots printed. First I learned that cds are ok, but flash drives for me at leaste are going to be my plan of action. If I do have things printed elsewhere. That with cds for clients to have printed on their own. As far as dimentions, 300 resolution is just fine for 5 by 7 even 8 by 10. Even with keeping my height and width of say 6000 by 4000.( Which still kind of figuring out ).

Work in progress. But am happy with how far I have come.

What a year it has been. For me it went by to fast. I am looking forward to 2012 and pray that I will use this next year wisely. Allowing God to lead me in whatever He chooses.

I wish everyone a happy and safe New year full of the Lords promises for your life to be enjoyed.

This new year I want to really go futher in my photography. I am excited for this next chapter in my life.

So it has been a year for my photography. I think I have really grown and learned and improved on this great adventure.

Now I am getting serious and to the point where I feel my shots can be good enough for print.

The only thing like so many things I have been slow to learn is how exactly to do this to have the right pixels and size and resolution .

I have watched so many youtube videos on this but still am a bit confused. My understanding is with the raw size , which in my case is usually wideth 5184 and height 3456. Which for blog purpose I change and resize to 900 by 600. Resolution at 240 but change to 72.

Now with an unsized image on youtube many say to uncheck sample size and change that to at leaste 300 and then recheck it and put your dementions in example 8 by 10 and then select bicubic smoother for enlargements and then press ok.

Is this how you those who have this as a profession and have to make prints or is there a better way? I have prints done at Target,( I know but is the only place close and she said you need the resolution at leaste 1000?

Please come tell me what you do. There are some shots I have taken worthy of framing and if I am going to have any clients I want to do it right for the future.

Thanks. Resizing would be done from photoshop elements 9. Maybe someone could make a tutorial on this???

So I have macro tubes and filters but I really want just a good macro lens. I am thinking of getting this one
Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens,
or this one non EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

The first is in my price range right now. But the second one would be the better choice I think. We will see.

Church tonight was just what I needed. I have been going thru sort of a struggle and with this holiday coming it has been very hard. But God is good He is able to do more then I will ever expect in the situation I am facing. With that I am so thankful.

The message was titled How Do We Get This Love Thing Right?

Some questions hard ones at that are asked of all of us as we choose this thing called LOVE.

Today here will be in the fourties. LOVE it. Work is slowing down for a bit which I am glad. I also think I just made my own action. Now I just need to learn how to share it. And am learning all about resolution when getting a shot ready to be printed for framing. Have not printed any of my work yet but this will be soon changing and becoming a regular thing.
Way behind on my christmas shopping, for some reason I am just stumped on what to do or get for those in my life. I use to be all about presents but the real reason for this time is JESUS. Not gifts we give. Relationships are whats important to me this year.

Today was my day off I did some christmas shopping and found out that a new closer Whole Foods is near to me. I love that store.

Tis The Season

So As many may know I have been very busy. But time will come when I am not so and I can not wait. I have not had any real time to just have fun taking pictures. Tomorrow is my first real day off in like 8 days. Tonite I cleaned my house and got errands done so I can just hang out tomorrow without anything really begging for my attention.

I did this shot kind of fast because I did not have all of the props I needed like lights. For bkoeh back ground. I have seen this type of shot done and wanted to try it out. Can you beleive my Target well there are actually like four I can go to in a five mile radious , are out of little lights? I may hit the others tomorrow or try a differebt store. I actually want to get to Michales craft store and get some fake snow and glitter to make homemade snow globes.

So it snowed on Saturday. I was at work so I was not able to really get a good capture. But this is part of what I got. When I say part I mean when I brought this up in camera raw in elements most of the shot showed red? Have no idea why so I had to crop it. Very strange I say. It was snowing hard right when I took this shot.

Yesterday was a good day off after seven long days of working. I took time to clean up my computer and reorganize. And I had me my own little early Christmas in a way.

I have an old Canon film camera and never thought to see if that lens would fit my camera now. Well it does. Now it is no fancy lens and to many not a very good one. But for me for now it is another one I can use. It is a 35-80mm. I think it works fine. Not so much indoors because of such a low apeture and it does not work great in dark places. But on a day that is nice and sunny I want to see how it be work outside. Just another range I can play with.

Nut Cracker

My friend is letting me test out her lens for a couple days. A Canon 28-135. I have been going back and forth on this lens and or a 18-200mm. They both are about the same in price on Amazon. Just need to save and make up my mind already. Here are some shots I took in the candy/ nut store I work at. We just had it decorated for the Christmas season. Looks fantastic.

Does anyone else have this lens? I know it is not a wide angle lens but I think it would be good for portrait work.

I wrote this a few days ago but wanted to use it for these challanges.

Shoot and Edit Macro

So since I have been on a macro kick all week of course Ashley and Jill would have a shoot and edit week for this.

This week is going to be way busy for me and I kind of forgot and cheated but have mine all edited to the way I want them for now.... anyway.. maybe one out of these can be tweaked again... or I can just use the color pencil shot from this post...MACRO.

Anyway we have drying hydrangeas here and their flowers as you may know are small. So I had a shoot. was practicing my waterdrops as well.

I am finding with these macro tubes you have to use flash and I was useing on most of these my NO FLASH setting which made my ISO very high so that is why there is a little noise. I was doing these inside. Just practicing.

I have really have to take time and go thru my pictures and organize them and put them elsewhere. Meaning a cd or thumb drive.

I just keep taking new shots when I have tons that have not been seen. Or that while editing have not deleted the not so good ones saving them for what if? Any one else have this problem?

I had bought this Pomegranate and want to capture its beauty. But to my sad suprize it was kind of going bad. I will have to get a new on and try again. It goes well with this verse then as I am noticing. God shows us that nothing on this earth will last. But our joy should stay forever if we live for Christ.

Missing Macro

So As some may know I lost one of my macro filters. Well I just got and am trying some macro tubes. I like them so far though not liking the little pin that you take them off with it is so small I bet I will loose it. Also how you have no control over your apature. But Time will tell. I still am going to get some different macro filters later and maybe someday just a macro lens it`s self.

But for now here are two shots I took. They do work well and I actually can use my macro filters in front still.
